I am still working on this website, so please bare with my while I complete it. The navigation will not currently work, but they should be up and running in no time. I unfortunately lost all the photos I had on the fashion page. If you sent in your photo, please send them again, and I apologize for the inconvenience. If you would like to help with the website, please contact me at JNH_Photography@yahoo.com, or jsangel456 at vampirefreaks.com While you wait on the site to be up and running, why not enjoy our interview with: Aesthetic Perfection [Q.] What instruments and/or computer programs do you abuse for your music? [A.] I use a computer, I use synthesizers, I use my voice. Those are the tools I have always used, and probably will continue to use throughout my life. While it is true that there are "better" programs, better synths, etc... if you have no talent it makes no difference what you use. Let's just say I keep up to date on production tools... [Q.] Did you ever have any other band members? Do you plan to add anyone in the future? [A.] I have collaborated on two tracks in the past with my former live keyboardist. Vapor on the Necessary Response record and Overcast on "Close to Human". The only reason he didnt play more of a part in other tracks is because he didnt want to be a musician, and I did. I'm satisfied (as much as an artist can be) with our work together but I feel like I work much better alone. Despite that overwhelming feeling, Im currently working with David Dutton of genCAB on some material that may or may not see the light of day... [Q.] Who or what influenced you the most and made you want to create your own music? [A.] I pretty much try to be a sponge and absorb all aspects of music/art/life/whatever the fuck you want to call it into what I do. Music that I think is shit inspires me to write music that isnt shit, just as much as brilliant music inspires me to try and write something brilliant. Its the mediocre garbage sandwiched in the middle that isnt good for anything... most of the time... [Q.] What was it like shooting your new video? Any problems? [A.] Does anything in life ever come easy? Seems like whenever you set out to do something, an equally oppressing force is pushing you back. We did the video completely guerilla style with no permits, no pre conceived locations and no budget. There about 10 people and 1 camera running around Berlin trying to make it happen. [Q.] Who would you say your favorite band is and why? [A.] In the last few years Ive lost my connection with bands as a whole entity. Meaning, I dont get attached to artists the way I used to. I think its possibly because I'm a musician and I dont listen to music without analyzing it anymore. I always find flaws in everything I hear, more than anything the flaws are in my own work. Which is sad, I would like to listen to music the way I did in High School. I will say that in the last few weeks Ive listened to nothing but Kanye West and The Misfits. [Q.] How do you feel about your new album? [A.] I feel like its a step in the right direction to what Aesthetic Perfection can become. I will always push myself to be better, I will never be 100% satisfied. I wouldnt want to be anyways... [Q.] What was your motivation behind the music video for "The Great Depression"? [A.] I wanted to create something that people who understand the song, the people who understand me, could watch and relate to and be entertained. The people who don't get it but like it anyways can watch it and be entertained too, and the people who hate it can show their friends and talk shit, which is entertaining for me. I'm deep, see? [Q.] How did you feel about Close to Human making 7th place Metropolis Mailorder Top 10 sellers list? [A.] The fact that "Close to Human" which is over 3 years old, could still sell and sit on a list with all the new records makes me feel like maybe, just maybe, I can make something with a little staying power. Whats the point of success if its fleeting? I have no interest in being flavor of the week or whatever. I'd rather never be noticed at all. [Q.] Can you recall the first song you "fucked around" with. How did it sound in the end? [A.] I remember all my old demos, and if you couldn't have guessed, they were complete garbage. The fact that the original Aesthetic Perfection tracks are online for everyone to hear is horrible enough, I hope the older shit never surfaces. [Q.] When you were younger, did you play any instruments? When do you think it first clicked in your mind that you wanted to make music, and how long did it take you to actually see it through? [A.] I played bass and guitar alot when I was in high school. I still play acoustic guitar from time to time, practicing my chops on Led Zepplin tracks, unfortunately Im no Jimmy Page. Either way, I think I always knew that music was all I could ever do. The last couple years have really shifted my focus, at the moment I feel like I have a good thing going, and I should never stop. |
